mine

April 17, 2011

This one inspired by the word/idea “mine”. Apparently my friend got that from a Taylor Swift song. Not being the most avid listener of pop music I have never heard it, so I just based it loosely on that word and an idea I had floating in my mind.

mine

you reach your fingers towards mine,
holding them delicately like a spoon and egg race
to melt my heart.
your shyness draws a smile on my lips,
one which you often find in children
who are easily satisfied.

you walk behind me because you are scared
of what the future brings,
but i walk ahead because i wish
to take you there
and show the world the path we paved-
all the while holding my fingers.

i never knew that your small hands
could channel such tremendous emotion
through your slender fingers
entwined in mine-
you give me courage to say your name.

we stand at the precipice together;
we walked with each other
held by tentative feelings and timid hands.
i only hope that we will fall
in love together,
just to call you mine.

Supergalactic

April 17, 2011

A little something I managed to whip up.

—-

supergalactic

i carry a sea of stars in my pocket
and a milky way in my bag;
i have no spare change for the heartless
and no space for regret in my pack.

i am foraging for shards of your brilliance
in the vastness of space;
a spaceman on an impossible journey
bridged by the memory of your kindness.

scattered like stardust in a supernova
the fragments are near untouchable,
but most certainly comprise the whole-
i will collect them all
just to reach critical mass again.

i want to reignite your star,
to turn dull glimmer into blinding sheen-
to return from this lonesome melancholy
to your former supergalactic beacon of light.

i alone will gather your pieces,
to rebuild my universe again-
you are my passenger
until you can be my traveller once more.

i will hold what’s left of you
in my beating core,
and draw you into myself
to revive you in my place.

No reason

January 9, 2011

I don’t need a reason to write. I don’t need reason when I write. Creativity is not bound by these things. If I were good with a paintbrush I would draw. If i were good with a camera I would take photos. If I was musical I’d play an instrument. Painters draw things in a different light; photographers show what the eye cannot see; musicians weave stories through song.

But words are the best I can do, so I write to tell you:

I don’t need to explain what this is, because those of you who bear any scrap of creativity should know.

reason

i don’t need a reason
to write the skies into the sea,
to create my own world
where the birds swim and fish fly-

the rainbows can smile into heaven
not frown into the ground;
life will breathe darkness
and we will exhale the
inextinguishable light from our souls.

there is no need for the sun,
as each gathering of life will be an aurora,
celebrating the marvels of existence-
even the fields will glow
with the luminance of the moonlight.

trees will grow jewels the size of apples,
with each bite as delicious as they look.
and in this written world
there is no race religion nor human;
there is just-

i don’t need a reason.

Birthday

September 23, 2010

Present for my friend for her birthday, she lost the feeling that a birthday should be a special occasion so I decided to try to make her feel special. Currently untitled, don’t think it needs one.

she felt the same as all the others,
an ordinary girl coming home tired
of all the mundanity in her world.

the same places every day,
the same faces every day,
even now it feels all the same.

the days seem so alike;
as repetitive as a leaky tap
dripping her life away-

it’s cliched to say that
i know how you feel,
but each of your days is news to me:
as different as can be.

it may not be much to you,
but your words are a window
to a world in which i wish to belong;
a palette to my tapestry,
you paint my life
with colours that can’t be seen.

each conversation is a celebration
of what your life has become,
and i yearn to be a part of that.
you speak sunshine into monochrome
and i am glad for you
when you are another year more magnificent.

it’s hard to see reflections
through clear glass;
it’s hard to see yourself
when you focus on the world.

you should know that your life is
beautiful not mundane,
different and not the same.
i only wished you could see
the same as me
and hold yourself in a better light.

Pepsi

August 5, 2010

Never written with themes like this before, it is a fair bit out of my comfort zone but here is a poem from the idea of “pepsi”. Clearly I do not drink it much!

we drink the same sickening sweetness
every time we go for lunch;
like an ant driven to a honey trap
we continue to consume,
following the queen’s command.

newcomers crawl over our bloated remains
floating atop a stagnant pool of ideas,
all to find a fresh flavour;
something more tasteful than the original.

born from taste, carried by desire,
this sweet intoxication attracts
like no drug can.

Semi-colon

August 3, 2010

As the title says, the word was “semi-colon”.

your sentences are one period short
from a semi-colon;
neither relevant nor related
to the subject at hand-

you speak like a hurricane;
a myriad of misguided words
flung together haphazardly,
like your words sound stronger
when thrown with force.

i just wished you’d punctuate so
that i’d not need to read your
wall of text strung hastily
together from whence your mind
conjures conversation.

Inspirivate my pometry

August 3, 2010

I am feeling fairly creative and up for a challenge at the moment. I figured that I should do something about it otherwise I will lose this feeling.

So what do I propose? Inspire me!

Give me a word, saying, picture or piece of music and I will write a poem based on what I get out of that.
I don’t promise a poem for every naughty video or lolcat picture, but I will try to do what I can from the source material!

Let the ideas fly!

Stuff as of 11/7/10

July 11, 2010

I received a samsung home theatre package in the mail the other day by redemption and have been fairly excited about it. Even though I plan to sell it on ebay I will be using that money to subsidise a proper 2 channel system. Though I am not 100% sure on what I want to buy, since I want something that can do a variety of tasks but focusing on music rather than home theatre effects since I would like to use it for listening to CDs and music. Need to take a few photos before posting it up, but I have never sold anything on ebay so it shall be an interesting experience.

I have been training people for the past 2 weeks at work now, to prepare replacements for myself when I change departments. I am getting a bit tired of it since I have trained pretty much all the staff in the current team and I just want to move on to more exciting things. There will be 1 more person I need to train and then after that it will be done. I will be free to spread my wings so to speak and get out of doing onsite tech calls and into the fabulous world of networking. Or at least a world where I can enjoy the possibility of career progression.

New anime season started a week ago! My favourite so far is “Ookami san no shichinin nakamatachi”, since the female lead looks like an older Taiga. Quite clever sometimes in the way they link fables and fairytales into an anime storyline. Amagami SS is interesting but I have yet to decide if it is awesome yet, definitely something I will watch but people have been saying it is the next “True Tears” which I will reserve judgement on. The shows I am following have relatively slow subbers so I am slightly frustrated and behind on them, especially “Kaichou wa maido sama”, “rainbow” and “working!!”. Good things come to those who wait I hope!

Pome Time

June 7, 2010

Just an update on what I have been up to really.

  1. Monster hunter tri is on top of that list, it is an awesome game which you can sink countless hours into (of which I already have).
  2. New(found) music from Moumoon is fantastic, her voice sounds like a mix of everybody that I like and listen to, very versatile voice that fits well in any style. Angela Aki is still awesome though a different sound to Moumoon, more mature.
  3. Moving back home at the end of this week as well, so I will say goodbye to my bachelor pad.
  4. New 50″ samsung plasma currently in my room and a separate bluray home theatre package coming by redemption.
  5. With above, a total rearrangement of my room to accommodate the massive TV, and hugeass beanbag courtesy of sumolounge coming soon.
  6. Department change at work to something more challenging at last
  7. Probably writing lyrics for some friends who want to write a song

And finally, here is a pome for you all that I wrote during my absence inspired by Moumoon – Ai no Oto.

the sound of you

you deafen the room we are in
every time you come around;
you wipe the noise and static clear away
and fill it with the sound of you.

the rush hour traffic disappears
like a tourist’s quaint backstreet hideaway;
i can no longer hear the piano practice
held by a neighbouring musician,
nor the broadcast news describing
the breakthrough in communication-

but what do i say when all i hear
are her heels clacking to the floor,
the shifting of her coat as her handbag
slips off her shoulder to the ground,
the friction of her hair against her face
and the clack of the door behind her?

the sliding of stockings on floorboards
stops with a click of her tongue
and a flick of her hair into a neat knot.
“hopeless” she says;
as a knife slices through poorly chopped vegetables
and oil is brought to crackling heat.

and my heart exploding through my chest.

the brushing of sheets across our skin
like breaking waves
tell me everything i wanted to hear tonight-
the sound of your breathing in a quiet room
matches the beating in my heart;
as if we were one being split into two bodies.

if i were vision and hearing,
she would be my sight and sound
giving me meaning to exist.

the banal noise of every day
only serves as a painful reminder of my
isolation
when not engulfed

by the sound of you.
